Peer Tutor/Mentor Requirements
PRESS is academically focused and will help foster student development and build skills in critical thinking, creative writing, and time management through classroom-based strategies. PRESS was specifically designed to address the difficulties that first-generation college students face transitioning into the collegiate environment. PRESS will strengthen curriculum and support structures so that students who enter their collegiate careers underprepared can become successful members of the academic community.
As a peer counselor, it will be your responsibility to assist the students involved in PRESS with transitioning to college life. In order to be a peer counselor student participant must

- Maintain 3.5+ GPA in the subject area and a 2.8 overall GPA;
- Maintain a professional image at all times (on and off campus, appearance, Internet, etc.);
- Be available to students in PRESS at least 5 hours per week.
